Easy Kettle Corn

Spread the love

I’m a huge fan of old-fashioned fresh popped popcorn, cooked on the stove, not in a bag. When I go to the farmer’s market on the weekend, there is a vendor that sells fresh kettle corn. The smell is undeniable and so enticing. There’s usually a line of about 10 or more people waiting to get their hands on the sweet and salty yumminess. Why wait for the fair, carnival or farmer’s market to bring you fresh kettle corn when you can make it at home? This recipe is super simple, quick and delicious. Yummy! Yummy!

{ Ingredients }

1/2 cup of popcorn kernels
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup canola oil
sea salt to taste

{ Directions }

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot. To make sure the oil is hot add 3 kernels to the pot. If they pop within a couple of minutes, you’re good to go. 🙂
  2. Place the kernels in the hot oil. Evenly spread the sugar over the kernels and  cover the pot. Shake, shake, and shake some more, only taking small breaks in between.
  3. The popcorn s ready when there’s a 2-3 second break between pops.
  4. Immediately pour the popcorn into a bowl to let cool. Throw away any rebellious kernels that decided not to pop. 😉 Enjoy!

I work here, there and everywhere as a model but I live in California. I love to cook to the tune of 20+ meals per week (that's every meal of the day everyday of the week except Friday night which is date night) ! I workout 6 days a week. I love my husband more than sweets (pinky swear) and think cold cereal is for babies. ;)
