I love salads; especially the ones with candied nuts. I’ve had some some amazing candied walnuts and some that were not so amazing. Let’s face it. Ordering salads at restaurants can be a waste. The lettuce is not the best quality, it’s hard to get all organic ingredients, and they are too pricey. Ugh! This is why I make my salads at home. I can make them as big as I want, and extra candied walnuts at no extra charge. YAY! This salad makes a great snack!
{ Ingredients }
1 cup raw walnuts
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
{ Directions }
- Rinse the walnuts and lay them flat to dry. Pat with a paper towel to remove excess water.
- Place skillet on the stove on medium heat.
- Immediately add the sugar.
- As the sugar starts to melt, slowly stir to keep the sugar from burning.
- Once the sugar has completely melted, add the walnuts and stir quickly. Make sure to coat all each walnut.
- Remove from heat and place the walnuts on parchment paper, or a baking sheet. Let cool for 1-2 minutes.
- Sprinkle with salt.
- Gently separate and let cool completely. Enjoy!
